UDM Project's In the Clouds EP on Cold Busted fuses elements of electronica, jazz, funk and downtempo with tracks that take the listener on a journey through lush, thoughtful and expressive sounds. UDM Project is primarily the work of Utku Dalmaz from Istanbul, Turkey who is currently studying composition and sound technologies, and says his music is "a great mix of fiction, reality and emotion." Starting off the album is 'Orbit' a NuJazz feel good track that is complimented by intelligent lyrics and futuristic and soulful rhythms. Following is the exquisite 'Dance with a Geisha' carried by melodious and wistful stringed instruments, which conjures the grace and beauty of a Japanese Geisha, an engaging experience. Next, 'One More Night' begins on a relaxing note with swanky trumpet sounds and the soothing voice of a jazzy female singer, building and filling out the song with an intricate story of words and sounds. 'In the Clouds' is next with a fat acid sounding synth and experimental electronic sounds and details, piano notes and a beat, capturing a groove that is trance-like. The album ends on 'Winter In Istanbul' complete with natural bird sounds, an emotional piano and steady beat which builds and crashes, a composition with style, creativity and expression. After listening to this album, you literally do feel lighter and calmer, as if you were really in the clouds.
