The ‘Funky Weapon’ LP from Gendroid, the project of Hennady Prikhodko of the Ukraine is indeed a musical weapon of wicked Funk, Soul and Electro inspired music. An album fit for any break dancing session or party this comes straight from the heart of a b-boy from back in the day. ‘The Stranger’ begins the album with a funky drum beat and bass line, jazz inspired flute, more funky breaks and cinematic strings and percussion that make you want to boogie. ‘Party Time’ is anther seriously funky tune with high hitting horns, and infectious rhythm, with a beat at about 100 BPM, low round bass and crowd sounds for a celebratory vibe. ‘Funky Weapon’ is an essential song with fresh vinyl scratching, steady drums, fly horns and high hats, organ keys and addicting tempo perfect for uprocking. ‘Summer Jam’ is another tight tune with a rolling party starting bass line, funky crooning horns, and dope beat with nice snares and a stellar electro synth singing a sweet melody. ‘Mr. Moss’ ends the album with dark synths and hard hitting playful drums, booming trumpets crescendo-ing, peppered with funky hand drums, overall a pleasantry.
