CrackerJack releases ‘A Beautiful Mind’ on Cold Busted, a 12 track Instrumental album of heavy Soul and Funk influences with chopped and creative arrangements generating a stimulating emotional flair. ‘Get Down’ starts with a groovy soul sample beat repeating in variations and on time with occasional funky vocal samples for finesse. Following is ‘Heaven’ a nostalgic melody you might hear in a classic Doo-Wop tune with original drum beats for a sweet choppy rhythm, playful with and suspending a charming emotional affect. ‘Makin’ Love’ is a swanky tune with loved up bits of loops and instruments for a chilled out beat and melody snippets in an imaginative arrangement of sound. ‘So Nice’ plays with a warm classic Soul-sounding loop replaying with ease and poignant timing, affectively keeping the emotive feeling while revisiting with slight variations. Ending with ‘Stop, Look, Listen’ we again get a nicely selected melody snippet, a steady snare drum with the beginning of sounds gently repeated and caressed for a new meaning and rhythm. With a fun production style, lovely selected samples, instruments and dope beats, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ takes on post modern Soul and Funk compositions for an inventive collection of tunes.
