‘The Mood Section’ from precocious 16-year-old producer Singularis of the Netherlands is a full-length Funk and Downtempo album influenced by Soul, Jazz, Electro and Dub. Just one of many thrilling and dynamic songs, ‘Spacey Walk’ entices with fluctuating dreamy xylophone, gracious and soothing complimented by a warm sub bass, chill drums, sax notes and clever arrangements. ‘Summer Joyride’ is upbeat and jiving with drums at about 98BPM, happy guitar riffs, bumping bassline, hand claps, soulful singing and apt edits. ‘What You Wanna Do’ is a swanky lounge tune with silky piano, a deep tenor, smooth bass and serenely wonky electro synths, colorful sounds, laid back beat, snare and cymbals. ‘Soulmouth’ features sunny trumpet and acoustic guitar solos intertwining nicely, relaxing, creative and funky, suave piano, subtle bass and memorable snare and synth. ‘Cosmic Soulplay’ is a thoughtful, tune with a dope beat, bassy with the light touches of cymbals, moody acoustic riffs and rhythmic calm melodies, ponderous and pleasing. Following is ‘Have a Nice Evening’ made with dinner party sounds, a tune with touches of sax, a classy piano playing and steady beat and bass kick, all done with creative flair. ‘Call You Back’ exudes a vintage soul and funk influence with creative beat repeats and samples, light and airy, feel good bass and keys. ‘The Mood Section’ is captivating with delightful instruments and is deliciously electronic with keen production, sound selection and arrangements, it’s a delightful album to experience.

sed: I shouldn't whistle along after all these years - ? Though I might also choose "Above". This LP is wholly tasty. It's where it started for me and one I come back to often. I arrived too late for Seeds, Roots and Fruits double vinyl. Still, I "met" the awesome (eek) folks at Beat Catz and they made me feel better. 24j
